What is a genioplasty?

You should discuss your medical history, including current conditions and any medications or supplements you take. Your surgeon will also carefully examine your face and possibly take an X-ray to see the underlying bone and determine the best surgical technique.
You’ll also be told about any risks or complications and will be able to ask any questions you may have.
What can you expect during the procedure?
You’ll receive local or general anesthesia before your procedure. Your surgeon can augment your chin by using a chin implant or by repositioning the jawbone, which supports the chin. The incision is usually made inside your lip or under your chin, so any scarring won’t be visible or noticeable.
The surgery will last from 1 to 4 hours, and you’ll be able to return to work in about a week.
